Welcome to www.SDVisit.com, the Office of Tourism’s Web site for the South Dakota visitor industry. Congratulations on your progress as you continue making the connections that will help us reach our 2010 goal of doubling visitor spending from $600 million to $1.2 billion.

2008 was an encouraging year for the visitor industry in South Dakota. Despite a challenging economy and $4 per gallon gasoline, you didn’t give up, and you boosted visitor spending in the state to $967 million. That’s 2.8 percent growth and a $26 million increase. Congratulations on a job well done!

I encourage you  to capitalize on this momentum as we move into 2009. Continue to participate in cooperative marketing efforts, utilize research and pay close attention to regional and national trends. Let’s keep working together as we showcase the Great Faces and Great Places of our state.
