Travel Forecast, 2007-2009

The Travel Industry Association of America (TIA) predicts travel volume and expenditures in the U.S. will increase in 2007. Travel volume is expected to increase 1.3 percent while expected total travel expenditures in 2007 will reach $647.6 billion, a 5.1 percent increase over 2006. Total travel expenditures for 2009 are forecast to reach $704 billion. TIA expects spending by international travelers to outpace domestic traveler spending in percentage gains in 2007 with a 6.6 percent growth over 2006, for a total of $92 billion.
