CNBC Films for Second Year in a Row
Mike Hegedus, of CNBC’s "On the Money," was in the state in November filming a segment on the popularity of pheasant hunting in South Dakota, but with a twist. While in South Dakota last year, Mr. Hegedus purchased a stuffed pheasant to bring home with him. He was so impressed with the fine quality of the mount that he wanted to return to South Dakota to give the taxidermist some credit. The finished segment featured a taxidermist in northeastern South Dakota, and focused on that sometimes overlooked part of the pheasant business in the state. Buddy Seiner of the Office of Tourism’s media team hosted Mr. Hegedus on his trip.

World Travel Market
Maureen Droz, South Dakota Tourism, along with RMI representatives from Wyoming, Montana and Idaho attended the World Travel Market in London, November 12-14, 2007, and met with 92 tour operators, journalists and travel agents, an increase of 28% over 2006. The group then flew to Florence, Italy to attend Showcase USA where they met with an additional 31 tour operators, journalists and travel agents to promote travel to the region.

Made In South Dakota
A juried exhibit was held Dec. 5 to select Made in South Dakota vendors to exhibit their products during the Annual Governor's Conference on Tourism. There were 31 applicants and 18 vendors chosen to exhibit during the conference January 16-17, 2008 at the Ramkota RiverCentre in Pierre.

Print Designs
Two new art print designs will be available for sale beginning at the Tourism Conference. Governor Rounds signed the framed editions, which will again be given away in a drawing at the Awards Gala Banquet on January 17. Images this year include a Needles area scenic and a summertime Glacial Lake with beautiful clouds.

Adventure in Travel Expo
The Office of Tourism and the Black Hills Travel Council will attend the Adventures in Travel Expo in Chicago, IL. On January 26 & 27, 2008, adventure enthusiasts from all over the Chicago Metro will be flocking to the Rosemont Center in hopes of planning their next adventure. South Dakota will be there to inform them of all the adventure opportunities that await them in our state. This will be the second year South Dakota will be represented at this particular show.
