July 1: Tourism Tax Increases to 1.5%
The half of a percent increase to the tourism tax goes into effect Wednesday, July 1. According to the law passed during the 2009 Legislative Session, the increase is in effect until June 30, 2011.
The Business Tax Division has more information about this increase and is available to answer questions. |

Shoulder Season Great Getaways
The 2009 Shoulder Season Great Getaways registration information was mailed on June 5. This year's program will accept 36 partners on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline is June 22. More information, the registration form and an option to pay via credit card (Visa or MasterCard) can be found on www.SDVisit.com.

Please join us in welcoming the South Dakota Office of Tourism 2009 summer interns:
Kayleen Stoeser from Fort Pierre joins the Media and Public Relations team. She attends Augustana College, with a double major in Government & International Affairs and Business Administration.
Steve Nelson from Pierre joins the Trade Sales and Marketing team. He attends the University of South Dakota and is majoring in Contemporary Media and Journalism.
Meghan Conway from Pierre joins the Visitor and Industry Relations team as the intern for Information Centers. She attends South Dakota State University, majoring in Public Relations.
Nellie Bloomberg is from Pierre and joins the Visitor and Industry Relations team for a second summer. She attends South Dakota State University, majoring in Consumer Affairs/Hotel and Food Service Management.
