Governor Mike Rounds presents the 2006 A.H. Pankow Award
to Melissa Lubbe of
Midwest Living magazine and
Bob Purdy of Meredith Travel Marketing.

The A.H. Pankow Award recognizes a member of the media whose coverage and promotion of the state’s visitor industry is unparalleled.

Midwest Living magazine has a circulation of nearly one million readers each month. That means on more than one occasion in 2005, a million potential visitors read about travel opportunities in South Dakota.

Midwest Living told South Dakota’s story by showcasing our attractions and activities, such as fly fishing Spearfish Canyon, and pheasant hunting on the prairie. This third-party endorsement of South Dakota is priceless, and resulted in a lasting impression on the visitor industry.

Midwest Living is on the top when it comes to design, editorial and overall quality of a publication. Whether it’s editorial about South Dakota or an advertisement that is placed in the magazine, South Dakota always receives numerous inquiries as a result.

The magazine is given the A.H. Pankow Award for their contributions to South Dakota and the relationship the Office of Tourism has with them.
