National Travel & Tourism Week

Each May, National Travel and Tourism Week is celebrated by the industry and communities across the nation to help promote travel to and within the United States. The 2018 national week takes place May 6-12.

In South Dakota, the Department of Tourism teams up with Convention and Visitors Bureaus (CVBs) to increase awareness about the travel and tourism industry’s economic, social and cultural contributions to South Dakota.

The Department of Tourism and the CVBs work together on media blitzes and interviews, community events, and hospitality/customer service training to help get the word out and prepare communities for the travel season.



The U.S. Travel Association provides a toolkit with useful resources to aid in local NTTW promotions. Below are links to the toolkit and to Department of Tourism-specific resources:
