2011 Publication Program

MEMORANDUM

DATE: November 2010

TO: Tourism Partners

FROM: Natasha Bothun, Information Center Manager

RE: Criteria for publications displayed at the Interstate Information Centers

Thank you for inquiring on the Interstate Information Center publication program. To have your publication approved for a three-year term, please fill out the enclosed form, and mail the form and your 2011 publication to the Office of Tourism for approval. Once we receive your publication, we will then evaluate it and send you your approval letter if it fits the criteria. We are accepting publications for approval November 2010 through May 2011.

If you are taking this opportunity to update your publication, please review our guidelines before you have a new publication designed and printed. Once the publication is produced, please send the new publication and form to the Office of Tourism, 711 E Wells Ave., Pierre, SD 57501 for approval.

Below are a few reminders from our publication guidelines
  • If you make adjustments to an approved publication, have a yearly publication, or create an entirely new publication, it will need to be approved.
  • If you already have the email addresses of the centers, please remember that no one will be checking those addresses until they open in the spring. Any correspondence before the opening date should be sent to Natasha Bothun in the Office of Tourism. Please do not contact the supervisors or ship materials to their homes during the off-season.
  • If you have someone else distribute your brochures, it is your responsibility to make sure they have a copy of your approval letter so they know it is ok to ship to the centers. Also, please make sure they have an ample supply of your publication to send the centers as they request it throughout the summer months.
  • Publications are accepted for approval November through May. Publications must be approved before June 1 or they will not be allowed to participate in the publications program for the 2011 season.
  • The Information Center Manager will be available at both literature swaps for approval if you do not have approval prior.
  • Since space is limited at our centers we ask for only one publication per property.
I look forward to working with you on this and other Office of Tourism Cooperative Programs. Please feel free to call or email me with questions.
