Calendar of Events

Each year, the South Dakota Department of Tourism compiles a statewide listing of events that appeal to visitors.The calendar is posted on www.TravelSD.com and distributed in a variety of ways to visitors, travel writers, group tour operators, in-state media and other members of the travel industry.

Qualified events are listed in the calendar free of charge. The Department of Tourism selects events that appeal to visitors; feature a variety of activities; capture a unique flavor of an area's geographic, historical or ethnic heritage; and cater to a specific group or niche audience. To be considered for inclusion in the calendar, the event submission must include specific dates, location, event description and contact phone number.

Event submissions are accepted on an ongoing basis throughout the year. There is a downloadable version of the form as well as an online version of the form. All events considered for the calendar must be submitted on an official South Dakota Calendar of Events form and must comply with the guidelines.
