Events Calendar

Each year, the South Dakota Office of Tourism compiles a statewide listing of events that appeal to visitors. The South Dakota events calendar encompasses two years, since many publications and tour operators plan their schedules a full year in advance. The calendar is posted on TravelSD.com and distributed in a variety of ways to visitors, travel writers, group tour operators, in-state media and other members of the travel industry. Some events also appear in the South Dakota Vacation Guide. Qualified events are listed in the calendar free of charge. The Office of Tourism selects events that appeal to visitors, feature a variety of activities, capture a unique flavor of an area's geographic, historical or ethnic heritage, and cater to a specific group or niche audience. To be considered for inclusion in the calendar, the event submission must include specific dates, location, event description and contact phone number.

Entry forms are mailed each July. The submission deadline is each September. There is also a downloadable version of the form as well as an online version of the form. All events considered for the calendar must be submitted on an official South Dakota Calendar of Events form and must comply with the guidelines.
