RESEARCH and E-CommerceThe Office of Tourism is building a more comprehensive resource of key economic and visitor data for the industry. As we move forward in these times of change, our marketing decisions must be based on a clear understanding of market intelligence and competitive analysis. Leading this effort is Kirk Hulstein. Also on the team is Robin Rattei who works to explore opportunities to identify key indicators for campaign effectiveness and tracking and Tim Binder who analyzes marketing research and assists in determining the best course for Tourism's marketing efforts. In addition, Tourism's E-Commerce efforts provide Internet and Web-based marketing tools for visitors and industry partners in South Dakota. Key objectives strive to provide indispensable travel resources, appropriate representation and focus to this emerging and important area. Ann DeVany is exploring new opportunities to expand the reach of Tourism's Web-based marketing efforts and ensures information is updated and relevant. The Research and E-Commerce team also reviews and develops advertising policies and ensures legislative efforts are committed to increasing economic activity through tourism promotion.
